Book 29 - Dragons of Autumn Twilight

Title: Dragons of Autumn Twilight
Author: Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman

Thoughts: Um, I’m not sure what to say about this book to be honest because while I enjoyed it, I don’t have any specific thoughts on it other than that I want to know more about what is going on and will likely start on the next book as soon as I can. I do have one problem however. The various parts that show that it’s obviously based on the D&D game system such as mages having to relearn spells every time after they use it and that just doesn’t…make sense to me. I know it’s a part of D&D, but it still doesn’t make sense in an actual book and fantasy world magic system.

Book 28 - Aquamarine Blue 5

Title: Aquamarine Blue 5: Personal Stories of College Students with Autism
Edited by: Dawn Prince-Hughes

Thoughts: This is a collection of stories by people who are in college or who have been in college who are also on the autistic spectrum. I read this because I too am on the spectrum and in college. Yes, I will fully admit that I have asperger’s disorder because it is a part of me and while yeah, it makes life somewhat difficult (more in the social and sensory sense than anything else). I found the writings fascinating because I have experienced many of the same things as some of the authors have experienced and it’s nice to see that I’m not alone in my “oddness” and in my difficulties. One was especially interesting to me as he went to the same university that I attend today.

Book 27 - Brothers in Arms

Posted by Holly on 24 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Book Challenge 2008

Title: Brothers in Arms
Authors: Margaret Weis and Don Perrin

Thoughts: I liked parts of this book, mostly the parts that focused on the twin brothers instead of the parts that focused on their half-sister. I don’t particularly like their half-sister to be honest, though I do wonder what happens with the child she had. The discussion of how war magic works in the world of Krynn fascinated me and to be honest, I always did wonder how the hell did all the mages managed to pull it off what with their constant need for spell components. Speed is usually what one needs in battle, not fumbling for spell components. Also, the prediction of Kitiara’s death was interesting too.

Book 26 - The Soulforge

Title: The Soulforge
Author: Margaret Weis

Thoughts: I really liked reading this book because well, learning about the childhood of the two brothers was something I really liked. Raistlin particularly interested me because well, he’s the kind of character I tend to end up liking when I read books. It was enjoyable and I think the best part was near the end when he takes the test because…it was interesting. Not saying any spoilers.

Book 25 - Test of the Twins

Posted by Holly on 11 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Book Challenge 2008

Title: Test of the Twins
Authors: Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman

Thoughts: This book was…mostly boring to be honest. I read it mostly so I could find out what happens to Raistlin and most of the action that takes place outside of the Abyss really bored me. I didn’t really have much of an interest in Kitiara and well, I suppose I didn’t know all of the back story yet. I’m currently reading the back story right now and things are starting to make more sense, like the whole relationship between Tanis and Kitiara. Still, the stuff that happened in the Abyss was far more interesting, but there’s not a lot of it.

Book 24 - War of the Twins

Title: War of the Twins
Author: Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman

Thoughts: Insert thoughts here. I completely have forgotten what I thought of this book other than I wholly support Raistlin getting laid by Crysania at some point in time. Which unfortunately didn’t happen. Um, yes, hot pairing is hot.
