I’m not quite sure what to say about this movie, but I’m going to say that it’s certainly not on my list of movies that I love. In some ways, it is very much like The Craft except with four boys instead of four girls and spiders instead of snakes. Also, the source of the threat comes from the outside of the group of our magic users instead of inside the group.
Apparently it was based off of a comic book, which doesn’t really surprise me at all considering the nature of the movie. Also a lot of the movie was full of cliches, what with all the things dealing with the Salem Witch Hunts and such. No offense, but really, it just reinforces in people’s minds, particularly Wiccans, of the “Burning Times” when the people killed during those periods weren’t burned, but hanged (at least in Salem) and weren’t actually witches. Burning was used for heretics mostly. One thing that would’ve amused me though is if instead of doing “contemporary authors”, they did 20th century authors and made a reference to Arthur Miller, the writer of The Crucible as a nod to the Salem Witch Trials.

This game was for Nintendo DS and I finished it a day or two ago finally after taking a break from it for about a week or two. I took a break mostly because I was close to the end and I sorta get cold feet before the last couple of bosses. The game however, came out to be easier to beat than I had feared. I did get stuck at one point in the game (basically the place where you have to choose between two planets) because I was having trouble with my strategy, but once I got my strategy figured out and actually remembered to save constantly through out the game, I had no trouble.
As for the content of the game, well, it was kinda lame. It’s cutesy and the puns are horrid. Someone must’ve been obsessed with food related names when naming various things throughout the game. And sometimes the dialogue really sucked. It’s short though for an RPG. Another negative was that you had to basically exclusively use the stylus with the game, which hurt my hands actually. Most games I can use a combination of the stylus and the buttons, but this one…well, it just didn’t really work that way.

I’ve finally finished watching all 52 episodes of Fushigi Yuugi. I enjoyed watching, even though I got very overwhelmed by the fact that I would watch six or seven episodes in a row since that’s the number of episodes on each DVD disc.
My favorite characters were Yui Hongo and Chichiri. Yui just was more of my kind of character than Miaka because she was much more serious and I could identify with her feelings more such as the feeling of being betrayed by a friend and being jealous. Chichiri I liked because…I have a soft spot for characters who have that traveling monk thing going on.
It’s hard for me to exactly say what I think about it because I watched over about two to three weeks, but for those who like shoujo anime, especially ones from the 90’s, it’s one to watch.

Today I finished watching .hack//Legend of the Twilight. I haven’t watched a new anime in a while (except for when I watched Loveless in the last few months), so it’s been interesting. I had obtained the first two volumes containing 8 episodes from the library’s Teen section and I got the last volume from Netflix.
It’s a cute anime. I wouldn’t buy it myself because it just really wasn’t my thing. I mean I do like anime such as Magic Knight Rayearth (and um, own it all on VHS), but unless I really get attached to a character in the anime or to the plot, I don’t put it on my list of what I should buy. I haven’t watched any of the other .hack anime, but I do plan on watching at least .hack//sign later on.
The first four episodes introduces you to the anime and most of the protagonists that will be important to the story’s plot, but things don’t really get interesting until the fifth episode where you first start to see an inking of what the plot is and you first have a sense of who the antagonists are. It’s also when Rena is kidnapped and she doesn’t do all that much for the rest of the series other than be the bait to lure Shugo into traps and play the damsel in distress. That kinda annoyed me to be honest.
My favorite character was Hotaru because she was really cute and I liked that in the final episode that her grunty grew big and had wings! So, it’s cute and while it’s worth watching, I don’t think that would be buying the DVDs for myself to own.
